Appearance
How Goldstrap looks while it works: the theme, the language, the bootstrapper window, the Roblox window it starts, and the sound it plays.
Theme
Settings → Appearance → Theme
Three choices: System default follows the Windows app theme, or pick Light or Dark outright. The window itself is drawn on the system backdrop — Mica on Windows 11, Acrylic on Windows 10 — so the transparent surface is the desktop behind it, not a picture of it.
The backdrop only blurs when Windows Settings → Personalisation → Colours → Transparency effects is on. With it off, the window falls back to a flat translucent panel. See Troubleshooting.
Language
Settings → Appearance → Language
Goldstrap ships with a few dozen translations. Changing the language takes effect after a restart, and any string that has not been translated yet falls back to English rather than showing a blank.
The bootstrapper window
Settings → Appearance → Bootstrapper
| Style | Description |
|---|---|
| Fluent / Fluent Aero | Default. Modern, with the progress bar and status text. |
| Classic Fluent | Older Fluent layout, kept for people who liked it. |
| Legacy 2008 / 2011 | Reproductions of the old Roblox bootstrappers. |
| Vista | Renders Roblox's original Vista-style task dialog. |
| Progress Dialog | Bare WinForms progress bar. The lightest option. |
| Terminal | Console-style window with streaming status lines. |
| TwentyFive | Large, image-first layout. |
| Byfron | Recreates the anti-cheat notice Roblox used to show. |
| Custom | Your own theme, built in the editor. See themes. |
Preview opens the selected style without starting a launch, so you can judge it before committing. Window title is free text; Icon offers the built-in set or any .ico file you choose.
The Roblox window
Settings → Appearance → Customisation
Window title replaces the title bar text of the running client. Icon replaces its window icon and offers the Roblox icon sets from 2008 through 2022, or your own .ico.
Both are applied by a small watcher that runs next to the game, because Roblox resets its title shortly after startup. They affect your window only.
Launch sound
Settings → Appearance → Launch sound
Pick an .mp3 or .wav up to 20 seconds long; anything longer is refused, and a file that cannot be decoded is refused too. Volume runs from 0 to 100 and applies to the launch sound only.
The sound plays while Roblox is starting, from a separate short-lived process, so it never delays the game itself. Preview plays it now; Stop cuts it off.
Custom bootstrapper themes
A theme is a folder with a Theme.xml inside. Goldstrap reads it as a description of a layout, not as code: a fixed list of elements, attributes and limits. A theme cannot run anything, and it can only point at files inside its own folder.
- Create — starts from the blank or simple template and opens the editor.
- Import — accepts a
.zipcontainingTheme.xml. Archives with absolute paths,..segments, or more than 100 MB unpacked are rejected. - Export — writes a
.zipyou can share. - Rename and Delete — act on the folder; deleting asks first.
- Edit — the editor with syntax highlighting, element and attribute completion, and a live preview.
Themes live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Goldstrap\CustomThemes. A broken theme does not break Goldstrap: if it fails to parse, you get a message and the Fluent style is used instead.
The profile row
Settings → Appearance → User profile
On by default. Turning it off hides the profile row in the launch menu and stops the daily streak from counting; your name, avatar and settings are kept for when you turn it back on. Details are in Profile.
