Install Goldstrap
One executable. It installs itself into a folder you choose, creates its shortcuts and registers the Roblox links. Nothing runs in the background until you launch Roblox.
Download
Take Goldstrap.exe from the latest release. The file is a single executable; there is no separate installer package and no runtime to install first.
Windows 10 or newer is required.
The build is not code-signed. Windows SmartScreen will show “Windows protected your PC” the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway. If you would rather check the file first, the release page lists its SHA-256.
Choosing the folder
The first screen asks where Goldstrap should live. The default is %LOCALAPPDATA%\Goldstrap. Any writable folder works, but Goldstrap refuses a few places on purpose, because a bootstrapper that lives in the wrong place breaks its own updates:

If the folder you pick already has files in it, Goldstrap offers to install into a Goldstrap subfolder instead.
Installer options
- Desktop shortcut and Start menu shortcut — both on by default.

Importing from Bloxstrap
Import is a straight copy, not a conversion. Your Bloxstrap Settings.json is read by Goldstrap as its own settings file, which works because the two share the same format. Mods and custom bootstrapper themes are copied folder for folder.
The Bloxstrap install itself is left untouched, so you can go back at any time.
What the installer sets up
- Copies the executable into the folder and registers an entry in Settings → Apps, so Windows can uninstall it later.
- Points
roblox://,roblox-player://,roblox-studio://and.rbxlat Goldstrap, so the Play button on the Roblox website opens Goldstrap instead of the stock launcher. - Creates the shortcuts you left enabled.
- Starts the launch menu.
Portable use
If you place Goldstrap.exe in a folder that already contains Settings.json and State.json, Goldstrap treats that folder as its install location and skips the installer. Useful for a USB stick or a second setup.
Uninstalling
Use Settings → Apps → Goldstrap → Uninstall, or run Goldstrap.exe -uninstall. The uninstaller asks one question: keep your data or remove it.

Your Roblox installation itself is not deleted unless neither the official Player nor Studio is registered any more.
If Roblox is running, Goldstrap asks to close it first. Playing with an uninstall in progress leaves the client without its saved state.
If the file will not run
- SmartScreen — “More info” → “Run anyway”.
- Antivirus quarantine — bootstrappers download and start executables, which some scanners flag by behaviour. Restore the file and allow the folder, or read Troubleshooting.
- Nothing happens at all — check that the file is not marked as blocked: right-click it → Properties → Unblock.
